Let me repeat that title in all caps – BODY SHAMING IS NOT COOL. Like, at all. I believe in the saying ‘It takes all kinds’, and that pertains to the shapes and sizes of our bodies too. Plus, the size and shape of your body is simply not my business.
Admittedly, I have body shamed others in the past. Silently, in my head, but I still did it. And I’m ashamed of myself for that, truly. Who the hell am I to think badly of someone because of their shape or size? I have a daughter who has been body shamed for being too slim. She really is tiny, but that’s a trait most of the women on my mother’s side of the family possess as young women (until babies happen 😉 ). It hurt me that people tried to make her feel bad, but also taught me to check my own thoughts.
One more time – body shaming is not cool.
I’m offering up a link to a body positivity post titled “Why Is Body Positivity Important”, from Stephanie at QuirkyBlogger . She is someone I respect and admire. In fact, she maintains the technical side of this blog for me, and has amazing blog set up packages if you’re looking to start one up. You won’t find a better deal for your money. But the point right now is…she has a body positivity post that I think it’s a good read, and it’s not long either. It’s short and to the point. Hop on over and give it a looky look.
